The Royal Palace and Chain Bridge

Budapest spans the Danube River.  The hilly Buda side is on the west bank, and the flat Pest side lies on the east side.

Royal Palace Area

The current palace was rebuilt from the 19th-century palace (which evolved from the 18th-century Habsburg palace, itself built on a 15th-century Gothic palace) destroyed in 1945.
