Are you ready for Greendale? If you
go to one of Neil Young's concerts this summer expecting to hear your favorite songs, you'll probably be
disappointed. He mainly performs songs from his upcoming (August) Greendale CD.
His old material is limited to a few songs during the encore.
Greendale is performed like a musical (sort of), with actors and sets, and purports to tell a story, but don't ask us
what it was. And the music? The songs are pleasant and sound like Neil Young, but
nothing really jumps out and grabs you. And the biggest problem is that most of the songs have
a similar tempo, on the slow side, so it's not exactly an exciting ninety minutes. (The concert runs a
little over two hours including the encores.)
