E.A.T. The sandwiches are expensive, and you'll probably find a line on weekends, but this upscale deli on the upper East side is our favorite place for lunch in Manhattan.

They're known for their fabulous breads, soups, omlets, salads, and just about everything else we've tried.  The owner, Eli Zabar, also owns the ultra-gourmet food store, Eli's Manhattan, and is a son of Louis & Lillian Zabar, the founders of Zabar'son the west side.   Date Visited: 3/28/2003
