At the St. Regis in April 2003, we got a deluxe room with a sitting area, a huge marble bathroom with separate tub and shower, and a butler for a weekend rate of $575.  So we like the rooms, the location's right (55th and 5th), and the King Cole Bar off the lobby is one of our favorite hang-out spots, but what makes this hotel special is that they take care or you.  When we were running late for the theatre and it was taking forever to get a cab, the doorman sent us in the hotel car (which luckily for us happened to be free).
