Homewood Ski ResortHomewood Ski Resort.   We fell in love with this small resort favored by the locals.   In a year of generally poor snow out west, we found the conditions here better than at the larger Tahoe resorts, plus the views of the lake are spectacular, it wasn't crowded, and an all day lift ticket was only $25 Monday - Thurs (but still posted when we drove past on a Friday).  Just don't expect double-black runs or high speed lifts.  (Date Visited: 3/6/2003)

Mirabelle Restaurant, 290 Kingsbury Grade, Stateline, NV 89449 (775) 586-1007.

We had an enjoyable meal at this small French restaurant tucked away in a shopping center near the casinos.  The atmosphere was pleasant (and quiet), our waitress was warmly efficient, and the food was very good indeed.  The chef/owner, Camille Schwartz, apprenticed in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, where he studied classic French cooking techniques.   (Date Visited: 3/5/2003)

Chevy's Mexican Restaurant, 3678 South Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA (530) 542-1741.

Yes, it's what Frank calls "stampede food", but it was freshly cooked, the service was fast, and the price was inexpensive.  (Date Visited: 3/2/2003)
